During Euro-2012 Kyiv will face huge traffic jams because of mass blocking of streets – the centre will be pedestrian for more than a month. It is planned to stop some subway station: so, Olympic and Palace of Sports will not work
on the day of games.
In the day of matches streets Krasnoarmeyskaya, Fedorova, Barbusse, trans. Laboratornyi, Blvd. L. Ukrainka, Basseynay Str, and Leo Tolstoy square will be closed for transport. It will be a so-called transport perimeter, where during a match only visitors, special and local residents upon presentation of a passport can get in.
Passengers of the subway will be also constrained. For example, along with stations Olympic and Palace of Sports, other station such as Independence Square, Khreshchatyk and Teatralnaya will be closed on the day of matches for 24 hours to avoid jams and various emergencies.
People who come to Boryspil will be exported to the station by special buses to subway station Borispol. From there they get to station Klovska or Palace of Ukraine as the closest to the stadium. Then they have to go to the stadium on foot.
